Communicating the joy of manufacturing through manufacturing itself. A playful corporate website.
For the complete redesign of Adachi Light Industry Co., Ltd.'s corporate website, I was responsible for everything from planning and structuring to still photography, video shooting, editing, writing, design, and coding.
Adachi Light Industries is a manufacturing company that supports the amusement industry. As a supplier of pachinko machines, they strive to deliver exciting products to the world, with a company culture of "If it's fun, everything's good." Therefore, the orientation focused on recruitment, and the challenge was to showcase "Adachi Light's unique style" in a way that didn't feel like a typical corporate website.
During the planning stage, we faced the challenge of how to convey the appeal of this job amidst the declining interest in pachinko among young people. To address this, we proposed using the TV program "○TagoraSwitch" as a motif. We aimed to convey the appeal of manufacturing to our target audience of science and engineering students through a unique presentation that sets us apart from other companies.
In creating the "○Tagora Device," we repeatedly discussed and refined the design, incorporating elements that conveyed the essence of Adachi Light through the device, and creating storyboards that allowed us to visualize the connections between the various departments within the company.
However, just as we were about to begin actual production, a state of emergency was declared due to COVID-19. It became difficult for staff to gather for face-to-face meetings and equipment production, and the project was temporarily halted. Eventually, the declaration was lifted, but production continued while we were unsure how to proceed with the project amidst the unprecedented social situation. At that time, what supported us was the client's underlying passion for craftsmanship, which led them to believe that "it is precisely because of the pandemic that we have meaning in doing this." We divided the work of making props through remote communication, and with a minimal film crew, we managed to bring the project to fruition by shooting video and stills over a total of three days.
This project holds many fond memories for us, as we grappled with the challenges of the pandemic through trial and error.
