With the COVID-19 pandemic over, business trips to the Philippines, where we have a subsidiary, have resumed.
Account of my business trip to the PhilippinesI have also written about this in an article before, so I would appreciate it if you would take a look at it as well.
To ensure that the business trip to the Philippines wouldn't just be a commemorative event, we decided to hold a session for all employees upon our return to share what we learned and accomplished there.
The original purpose of the overseas business trip was to shorten the distance between the Japanese parent company and its subsidiary, the Philippine company. While the members who visited the Philippine subsidiary did feel that the distance closed to some extent, for those members who did not, that distance remained unchanged from before.
Therefore, I thought about taking advantage of this opportunity to increase engagement with the Japanese members' Philippine subsidiaries and Philippine members.
We decided to hold a report session on the Philippines to coincide with the company's social gathering, and the venue will be the office after closing hours.
The report begins with a progress report from the manager of the dispatched design team.
Actually, I deliberately chose the office as the venue to create a crisp atmosphere (a moderate sense of tension). Also, in restaurants or izakayas, the surrounding noise can be distracting.
As a result, I believe we were able to show the members who will be going on business trips a benchmark for the minimum results they should aim to achieve. This was the message I wanted to convey to everyone through internal public relations.

Meanwhile, my goal as a PR representative was to make other staff members feel, "I'd love to go to the Philippines too!" and "I'm a little worried, but... maybe I could do it too."So, I decided to use the photos and videos I took there to create casual vlogs (videos a few minutes long) to share, making my time in the Philippines interesting for viewers. By imitating the common casual style of YouTube, the members seemed to be able to watch it enjoyably without feeling any pressure.
Here's a quiz about episodes I learned about the Filipino members when I traveled there. For example,
Members of the Japanese corporation do not communicate with each Filipino member every day.
Therefore, there were several Filipino members whose faces and names didn't match.
This Philippine member quiz allows you to remember the members with impressive episodes. In fact, it was very effective!
It's a simple game where you draw a picture based on a given theme, and then someone else guesses what it is.
From here, we will have a competition divided into teams of 4 or 5 people.
In addition to prompts that are easy for anyone to visualize, such as "Cinderella," "Dating Apps," and "Proposal," we have also prepared prompts related to the aforementioned vlog.
Some of our work involves conducting numerous interviews to concretize customer requests and then giving them shape with our colleagues. By leveraging these skills, which we use daily in our jobs, we can tackle game strategies.
Members showed unexpected strength, and it was exciting due to the element of surprise.

↑ "Hangover Chairman" drawn by the president.
We decided to try the "Ultimate Two Choices" game in Japan, which was a huge hit with our Philippine members.
Although we work together regularly, it was a very interesting time where I glimpsed each other's ways of thinking and values.

The Public Relations Department has been put in charge of this project as part of our internal branding initiative.I was worried about what would happen if the game didn't get exciting, but as a result of adding various tricks and ideas, it became very exciting and was a great success. (Phew...)
Looking back at the factors for success, one is that we were able to constantly keep the objective in mind, both during our trip to the Philippines and during the preparation period for the reporting session.
And we
I was also helped by the recipients' high level of awareness, such as "Let's get to know our Filipino friends better" and "Let's enjoy this time."
Has engagement with the Philippines and its members skyrocketed?! It was a report meeting and social gathering, wasn
I realized that a little ingenuity can greatly change how something is communicated, and it was an excellent opportunity for the PR department to reaffirm the difficulties and effects of internal branding.
How about you all try tackling internal branding to deepen understanding of your own company by utilizing in-house events?
